Taking Happiness to others less fortunate!
PROJECTS
Papa's Endeavours Nepal - P.E.N. (formerly Social Endeavours NeplEndeavours) aims are to help and assist those in need and to assist ethical organizations in Nepal.
Current and on-going 'endeavours' (projects) include:
Support and soliciting of sponsorships for needy children to attend school full time.
Support an Indian migrant beggar family, consisting of 2 boys, currently aged 10 & 12 (in 2024), their mother Reena and 10 month old sister Monett..... alchoholic/druggie father, has been kicked out by Reena! Her family are struggling ....like so many others .... to survive in primitive and degrading cicumstances.
Support for the 'Tashi Waldorf School' in Kathmandu, that also embraces vulnerable children from economically challenged Nepali families. Students can attend KG through to graduation at the end of class 4 (each year, an additional class is added, possibly up until class 8).
Continuing moral support of 2 former street boys: Gokul (22), as he pursues his studies in college and Dipu (28), currently (2024) working in Dubai.
More support endeavours:
Sunita (20) recently orphaned and currently called to care assist her 24 yr old brother, who is in hospital, having been in a no-fault, motor-cycle accident with a truck, resulting in a multi-fractured right-leg. Nepal hospitals provide treatment (at cost price), but practical in-hospital care, is the responsibility of the individual to organise! Sunita had to respond to her estranged brother's demands for her assistance! Sunita has no financial resources, no home of her own (shares with a female friend. I very recently financed a 'barista training' so she has, at the very least, a skill to offer a potential employer. In the interim, I give what support I am able, each month.
Samjana (23) I first met in 2017, when I financed the establishment of a residential home for orphaned/disadvantage pre-teen girls. Samjana was the sister of her 24 yr brother, who was the CEO of the 'Home of Dreams'. Samjana ended up in the role of 'house mother' at the tender age of just 15, caring for 9 young girls, between the ages of 6 and 11! Caring, Cooking and Cleaning, etc.,. All girls attended the local 'Tashi Waldorf School'. The home closed in 2021, due to the 'Covid' crises in Kathmandu. Samjana was also a uni student, studying for a degree in 'Early Childhood Education'. Samjana is now in her 3rd year, still caring for 2 teen girls, as well as having a f/t job as cashier in a local cafe.
The entire month of Sep '24, has been a period of extreme health crises, Samjana having contracted 'Dengue Fever', which fortunately she informed me of, when she had a fever of 106degree F! I arranged immediate admittaance to the nearest hospital as an 'Emergency'! Almost 2 months later, and Samjana is back on her feet again, picking-up where she left off! Albeit, with a hospital debt of some Nepal rupees 4,00,000 (USD3,000 GBP2,300 AUD4,500) of which I have so far settled NPR1,00,000....saving for the remaining NRP3,00,000 !!!!
Samjana is also in need of support with her uni studies for an 'Early Childhood Teaching' qualification, with a desire to become a Steiner-Waldorf teacher, via 'in-service training' at a Steiner school in an English speaking country, such as AU!! Lots of help needed here! But for a reliable, responsible, dedicated and very hard-working young woman.
Then there is Atal, a mobility challenged(Duchenne muscular dystrophy) young woman (aged 32) with a 'Social Science' degree. Currently unemployed due to the progressive, debilitating disease. However, Atal does have a 4 yr little boy (husband overseas!!), and supports (cares for) 2 teen young ladies (17 & 20), both still studying. Atal struggles to meet financial obligations, being unemployed.
And I have regular contact with other needy individuals, whom I endeavour to give financial 'support' as and when required! In the last 6 months, I raised funds, & personally assisted, with purchasing an electric operated, mobility scooter.....much to the absolute delight of Atal!
And mentioned earlier, there is Indian migrant Reena, alone with 3 children: 2 boys (10 & 11 yrs) and a daughter (Monet) age 10 months. Husband/father is back in India....spending any income on drugs and alcohol!
I send NPR22,000 monthly support for rent, power, food since 2015! And extra each term, to cover school fees for the boys. Their home is in a slum ghetto in the district of Boudhanath, Kathmandu.

It's wonderful having such an extended family...especially as I lack one of my own!
Why not join me ...... or chip-in a few rupee/pounds/dollars/euro/or other....!
